Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Yaluma LLC ("GoodQuits," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the GoodQuits mobile app, the goodquits.com website and related services (the "Service"). GoodQuits is a habit coaching app for adults 18 and older in the United States.
We know the things you share with GoodQuits are personal. They include the habits you're working on, why you do them, how you're feeling, and the people you care about. We use that information to run your coaching experience. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your email address, and your password if you create one (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider).
- Sign-up answers: the habits you want to quit, your age range, how many times you've tried to quit, methods you've tried, your reasons for quitting and for continuing, how often you engage in the habit, how much you spend on it, and how ready you feel.
- Personalization answers: your first name, when urges tend to hit, what has ended past quit attempts, your savings goal, who supports you, your preferred coaching style, the name and look you choose for your coach, your quit date, and (if you're quitting alcohol) whether you experience symptoms when you stop drinking.
- Coach conversations: every message you send to and receive from the AI coach, plus notes the coach saves to remember you, such as people you mention, upcoming events, feelings and triggers.
- Your lists and plan: your reasons to quit, reasons you kept going, replacement habit, life goals, and your letter to your future self.
- Check-ins, urge logs and usage logs: whether you stayed quit, your mood, the time, intensity and trigger of urges, what you were doing, whether you slipped, and, if you log them, how many times you used the habit, when, and what set it off.
- Photos and videos: images and recordings you upload, which may show other people, and the names or captions you add.
- Accountability buddy: a name and phone number you choose to save. We never contact your buddy. The app only opens a pre-written text message on your own phone when you tap to send it.
- Support requests: anything you send us when you contact us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information: your device's time zone (used to calculate your streak and schedule reminders), app version, and basic technical logs our service providers keep to operate and secure the Service (such as IP address and request times).
- Notifications: reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We store the times and types of reminders you chose so your settings follow you.
Information from others
- App stores and our subscription provider: Apple or Google processes your payment. We receive only your subscription status (for example, active or expired) through our subscription provider. We never receive your card number.
2. Consumer health data
Some of the information above may be "consumer health data" or "sensitive personal information" under state laws, such as Washington's My Health My Data Act, Nevada law, Connecticut law, and the California Consumer Privacy Act. Examples include information about tobacco, alcohol, gambling or other habits, your mood, and your quit progress.
- What we collect: the categories listed in Section 1.
- Why: only to provide and improve your coaching experience, keep the Service secure, and comply with law.
- Where it comes from: directly from you, and from how you use the app.
- Who we share it with: only the service providers listed in Section 4, to operate the Service on our behalf.
- Consent: we ask for your consent before collecting it, when you create your account. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account (Section 7).
- Your rights: see Section 8.
3. How we use information
We use your information to:
- create and secure your account and verify your email;
- personalize your plan, dashboard, streak and savings tracking;
- power the AI coach, including remembering what you've shared so it can follow up with you;
- find patterns in your urge logs and check-ins and show them to you in your pattern report;
- show your reasons, people and progress when you tap "I'm having an urge";
- schedule the reminders you choose;
- check your subscription status;
- respond to your requests and provide support;
- maintain, debug, secure and improve the Service, and prevent fraud and abuse;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not use your information to train AI models, and we do not allow our AI provider to do so.
4. How we share information
We share information only as described here:
- Service providers that process data on our behalf under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Supabase: database, authentication and backend hosting.
- Cloudflare: private storage of your photos and videos, and website hosting and security.
- Anthropic: the AI model that generates coach replies. Your messages and relevant context are sent to Anthropic to generate each reply. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
- RevenueCat: subscription status management.
- Resend: delivery of verification codes and account emails.
- Apple and Google: app distribution, payments and in-app purchases.
- Legal and safety: if required by law or legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of you, others, or GoodQuits.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this Policy. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- With your direction: for example, when you choose to share a milestone or text your accountability buddy from your own phone.
We do not sell personal information, "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or disclose consumer health data to third parties other than as listed above.
5. Photos and videos of other people
If you upload photos or videos of other people, you are responsible for having their permission. Your media is stored privately and is visible only to you through the app, using time-limited links. You can delete any item at any time.
6. Data retention
Your coaching history is designed to last as long as your account does, so the coach can remember you. We keep your information until you delete your account. After you delete your account, we delete your personal information from our active systems within 30 days. Residual copies in backups are deleted on their normal schedule, within 90 days. We may keep limited information longer where the law requires it.
7. Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time:
- In the app: go to Settings > Delete my account.
- By email: if you no longer have the app, email support@goodquits.com from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll confirm once it's done.
This deletes your account, conversations, lists, check-ins, urge logs, usage logs, and your photos and videos. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription purchased through Apple or Google. Cancel that in your app store settings.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on your state, you may have the right to:
- know and access the personal information we hold about you, and get a copy;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- withdraw consent to our collection and processing of consumer health data;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, or of targeted advertising and profiling (we do not do these);
- limit the use of sensitive personal information (we only use it to provide the Service);
- appeal a decision we make about your request.
To make a request, email support@goodquits.com. You can also delete your data directly in the app. We will verify your identity (usually by confirming your account email) and respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and you may contact your state attorney general if you are not satisfied with the result.
9. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls that separate each person's data, private storage for media, and time-limited access links. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law, including under the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule where it applies.
10. Adults only
The Service is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us at support@goodquits.com.
11. Where we operate
The Service is currently offered only in the United States, and your information is processed in the United States.
12. Not medical care
GoodQuits is a habit coaching app. We are not a healthcare provider, and information you share with GoodQuits is not a medical record.
13. This website
goodquits.com does not use advertising, tracking cookies or third-party analytics. Our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and request times) to deliver and secure the site. The site loads its font from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser requests the font. If you email us, we use what you send only to respond to you.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect, and we will ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
